Abstract:
WAN optimisation is a new buzzword within networks. Network technology continues to receive significant attention and development over the past decade. This has evolved along with the demands of the applications and the services around it. Today the Network is the link to the information that we need for our daily activities. Not surprisingly, new technologies have also come to the market in the effort to optimise the use of the network to support all necessary applications and services. It is not only becoming increasingly important for the IT managers to consider it as core part of their network planning strategy but also very critical for the IS managers to include it in their application deployment program and application performance management (APM) plans. CSC offers Network Application Management which extends the concepts and the tools of WAN optimisation. Quite a few different WAN optimisation technologies and products are now available in the market and many new ones are emerging. As the awareness is growing in the customers’ mind together with the highly technical marketing by the suppliers, it is also becoming increasingly difficult for customers to sort the fact from fiction, to make an informed and effective choice to realise their strategy and select the right solution. The system integration/ Outsourcer Company’s role in this space can be very critical and has to be most scrupulous, they not only has to adopt a strategy that is right for the customer but also meaningful for the producers and the suppliers at the same time sustainable for itself. Network Application Management is a strategy adopted by CSC as a system integrator to deliver effective WAN optimisation technology and develop necessary Application Performance Management service spanning the entire application life cycle as appropriate for each individual customer. We shall endeavour to work thru the uncertainties presented by the mist of different hi-tech products in the market, roles and stakes of different players in this field, the rising user expectations and find a clear pathway to reach the realistic goalpost for each individual player and share a part of CSC experience in how effectively this path can be used.
