WIE

Dear IEEE Members,

Outreach is an activity aimed at motivating young secondary school girls to study engineering. Each year the IEEE WIE group in Victoria contributes to an outreach program. This year this is being done in conjunction with the University of Melbourne. The IEEE WIE group has financially sponsored women-in-engineering activities at the student Endeavour Day. Also the IEEE WIE will present a talk at that event aimed at highlighting the benefits of engineering as a career and what it can contribute to the development of young people professionally and personally.

The speaker will be the WIE Chair, Irena Atov. Irena is well qualified to speak to students about engineering as a wonderful career opportunity having studied it in Macedonia and in Australia, received a PhD, and worked in academia and now in industry. She has also been an outstanding leader in the IEEE locally and internationally. The talk is entitled Industry and Career for Female Engineers.

Best regards,
