FAQs about WIE
1) How do I join Women in Engineering?
Visit our Membership page for information on how to join WIE.
2) Do I have to be an IEEE Member to participate in a WIE event?
Many of our events are open to all interested parties and being an IEEE member is not compulsory for attendance. Some events are only open to women, but often IEEE membership is not a prerequisite to attend. The event notice will clearly define the requirements for attendance.
3) Do I have to pay to be a Member?
You will have to pay to be a member of the IEEE Women in Engineering Group. This payment is made to the IEEE's head office in the United States as part of overall IEEE membership.
Payment is sometimes required to attend events.
4) How do I get involved in the Victorian WIE Group and can I join the Committee?
If you wish to volunteer to participate on the WIE Committee, contact us at wie.victorian@ieee.org. The group is always happy to have volunteers to assist with planning and executing activities.
Holding a senior position on the WIE Committee in Victoria does require IEEE membership.
5) Can men join?
Of course! Men are very welcome to attend our general events and join WIE. You are required to be an IEEE member first though.
6) Can I join the mailing list to receive notification of news and events?
Yes. Complete
the form at our Contacts
page to join the mailing list.
